The Kelem Education Foundation Philosophy
VISION
Together, we will nurture every child's creativity and curiosity to collaboratively explore our immediate and wider world, carving a path for a confident and self-realized global citizen.
BACKGROUND
Kelem Education Foundation was incorporated in July 2022 as a 501(c)3 non-profit partner to the board of Kelem International School in Kazanchis, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. KIS has been a vital part of life in the woreda for many decades as the Swedish Community School. Now, it is run by the charitable organization created by the school’s families. The Former Swedish Community School Parents’ Charitable Organization (FSCSPCO) has integrated new goals to develop and expand education and support collaborative learning communities. It helps enrolled students and students in the woreda (neighborhood) around the school, through afterschool and weekend programming, life skills and entrepreneurship training for woreda parents, and summer time training for teachers at the woreda government school. FSCSPCO board is forming stronger connections with the woreda community to facilitate the realization of every child’s full potential.
Kelem Education Foundation was born to help the school community enact their values of collaboration, integrity, confidence, and creativity. As a 501(c)3 United States-based non-profit, Kelem Education Foundation is proud to partner with FSCSPCO and the Kelem International School. With your support, Kelem Education Foundation can help make lasting and meaningful connections between the school and community in Yeka Sub City, Woreda 06 of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. At the Foundation, we partner with the board to accomplish our collective goals of developing and expanding quality education for empowered citizens through creative and curiosity-driven learning.
